The day began at 4am with an exchange of emails between newest Karate Blog Subscriber Wayne Lottering, John Viney (Paphos SKC) and myself. Subjects covered included: the size of gis, Bassai Dai, Zanshin, Sensei Terry O’Neil 7th Dan, the Karate Union of Great Britain and my steadily growing YouTube portfolio.
I am working on a date for my 1st dan (kata only) examination. There is a 3 month training period in which to apply myself, followed by international sports reporting commitments in various parts of Europe and it looks like mid August 2012 will be the earliest opportunity to try again for qualification.
I swam and worked through my physiotherapy exercises for 30 minutes this morning and lunched on Mary’s excellent Thai meal Khao Pad Kung
A snooze between 2pm and 4pm to compensate for my nocturnal activity, followed by a telephone interview with a senior figure from Notts Athletics Club, one of the country’s top clubs, ‘punching way above its weight’ in the athletics world.
And finally, I have been invited by a leading medical school to participate in training and research into the ageing process, which I ‘seem, somehow, to have reversed’. Tomorrow we meet over lunch, the professors and I, for our first exploratory meeting to examine my lifestyle, karate exercise regime, diet and philosophy (Bhuddist, in the main).
